CranioSacral Therapy for the Neurodiverse Community!
Holistic Wizard Wellness is EVOLVING…
To address a deep need within our region. I will be addressing the varying symptoms and concerns that affect the neurodiverse population around the region. This includes persons on the autism spectrum, people with sensory processing issues, people experiencing difficulties with learning and focus such as ADD and ADHD and more. This could also include people who are suffering with issues around anxiety, depression, and other mental heaviness.
After doing some deep dive internal work, journaling, talk therapy, and other holistic practices, it finally hit me that this is the direction my practice should flow. HELPING PEOPLE LIKE ME!
STORY TIME: I grew up in Paulding, Ohio but was adopted as a baby due to my birth mother being very young when I was born and other possible issues. Studies show that mom’s stress directly affects the fetus while carrying the baby. I’m not sure what happened but I feel there were a lot of stresses which led to me being adopted out. I was raised in a generally healthy Christian home by two very loving parents but something was a bit off.
When I was a young sprout I was diagnosed by a child psychologist down in Columbus, Ohio with ADHD and prescribed Ritalin… later Adderall XR 30MG… then I had to change schools and go to a small Catholic school for disciplinary reasons. (I was just talkative and disruptive) I was constantly in trouble at this school because I was “different”. Not just a heathen…
At seventh grade, I transitioned into a public school setting at Paulding Middle School where I blended in so much that the real troublemakers were more on the teacher’s radar. I got lost in the shuffle of another school’s kids joining that grade too. I stayed on Adderall and did okay with my school work but I was always referred to as lazy, a day dreamer, and told I lacked drive and focus. I struggled in math and other subjects that didn’t captivate my attention but excelled in more dynamic environments. It took a while to find my flow, even through high school.
The medication did help at certain times but other times I felt like I could just implode from anxiety, overwhelm, and possible autistic tendencies. I had some rage issues, depression, and periods where I just felt out of control in my mind and body. During the 90’s and early 2000’s there were very little treatments available for kids such as CST other holistic applications that could help with these feelings and sensations.
As a Licensed Massage Therapist with a desire to expand my CranioSacral Therapy practice I have been searching for ways to work with my very specialized training and use it to make an impactful difference in the community I wish to serve the most.
Now in September 2024, I am opening my doors to working with clients of the neurodiverse community for CranioSacral Therapy.
This includes: Kids age 6 and up, Teenagers, and Adults as well as Expecting Mothers! (helps strengthen that mom-baby bond)
*Parents of kids younger than 18 - Must sit in on session*
Why CST?
This therapy is effective, safe, gentle, and relaxing. Applicable to be done on people of all ages and it complements other methods of treatment such as medication, talk therapy, and much more. It takes a unique soft touch approach that naturally makes the body feel safe. Hands are placed around the whole body, neck, and head to release tensions felt by the facilitator. Concepts for CranioSacral Therapy were born out of original Osteopathic ideas that believe the body is a self-healing mechanism and that structure and function are directly interconnected. This specific therapy works to assist the body in releasing mental, physical, and emotional traumas.
CST CAN ALSO HELP PEOPLE SUFFERING FROM…
Anxiety and stress in adults, teens, and kids
ADHD/ADD in both children and adults
Long Covid related issues
Panic attacks
Hormonal issues in women and men
Chronic Fatigue
Headaches
Back pain
Post-Partum stress
Grief
Stress related to pre or post surgery
Digestive issues
I have always had a fascination with the mind-body connection and deeper work beyond that of a general practicing LMT but this work holds a very special place in my heart based on my own experiences. After practicing CranioSacral Therapy for the past six years and seeing how sessions benefit other clients. I now have the education, experience, and focus needed to move into this next realm!
I have some awesome plans for expansion but this is the groundwork…
Together, we are building a strong community and it begins with stillness!
Thank you!
